H2 Mobility is planning a new hydrogen refuelling station in Düsseldorf. According to the filling station manufacturer, it will be Europe’s most powerful H2 filling station with a daily dispensing capacity of over five tonnes. It is not yet known when H2 Mobility plans to open the refuelling station.
Thanks to their technological collaboration, compressor manufacturer Ariel and drive manufacturer Hoerbiger have developed a compact but powerful compressor. This is tailored to the central needs of the H2 industry, It can be used in a hydrogen refuelling station, among other things. The compressor is part of Hoerbiger’s new HCP 500 hydrogen compressor package. The company produces it in its new compressor packaging plant in Trnava (Slovakia).
Refuelling with pressures from 350 bar up to 500 bar
Finally, the HCP 500 offers a good total cost of ownership (TCO) performance compared to the technologies available on the market today. H2 Mobility is using this compressor package for its new hydrogen refuelling station concept. In combination with their new modular dispensers, they are developing a future-oriented refuelling concept for heavy-duty vehicles, including trucks and buses. This system can refuel at pressures from 350 bar up to 500 bar.
The KBH compressor installed in the HCP 500 is serial number 70,000. This milestone represents a significant achievement for all project partners. The collaboration between H2 Mobility, Hoerbiger and Ariel emphasises the importance of technology partnerships in fast-growing markets such as the hydrogen economy. Together, these partners are committed to providing a sustainable and efficient solution for a greener future of transport infrastructure.
“The performance of the new hydrogen refuelling station is unrivalled”
“The performance of the Düsseldorf refueling station on Höherweg is currently unmatched in Europe. It represents the new generation of H2 MOBILITY refueling stations. In Düsseldorf, multiple 350 and 700 bar vehicle types (buses, trucks, light commercial vehicles, and cars) will be able to refuel simultaneously and consecutively at the same location. Thanks to our patented refueling technology, high-performance refueling is now possible. Our customers benefit more than ever from modern technology and the advantages of hydrogen propulsion – short refueling times with long range,” explains Frank Fronzke, Managing Director and COO of H2 MOBILITY Deutschland.
Currently, 33 filling stations in the H2 Mobility network offer refuelling options for trucks and buses (350 bar). This figure is set to rise to over 50 by the end of the year. H2 Mobility currently operates a total of around 80 hydrogen refuelling stations in Germany and Austria.
