SAMSON: Official Go-ahead for New Electroplating Unit

At valve manufacturer SAMSON, work on the new headquarters is currently in full swing. The MainChange project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. Another important hurdle has now been overcome.

Prof. Dr. Jan Hilligardt, President of the regional council in charge, personally handed over an important notice of approval to SAMSON’s CEO Dr. Andreas Widl during a small ceremony at the Offenbach Innovation Campus. This document represents the official go-ahead for the construction and operation of the electroplating facilities at the new SAMSON site.

The new electroplating unit will play a crucial role in the surface treatment of SAMSON valves. The process extends the valves’ service life and improves their corrosion resistance. With over 30 % more capacity, the new unit will help SAMSON achieve the targeted higher production output, while complying with stricter regulations governing environmental protection, occupational health and safety.

Dr. Andreas Widl commented: “The notice of approval marks a significant moment for us. We are one step closer to opening our new factory in Offenbach.” He continued: “Thanks to the excellent collaboration between the regional council in Darmstadt, the relevant authorities and our planning consultant QUBUS, we have managed to reach this milestone sooner than we expected. The approval grants us planning certainty so that we can push on with our plans.”

New electroplating unit is part of the MainChange project

According to the German Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG), a series of tests must be conducted to ensure compliance with air pollution control, noise abatement and wastewater requirements. SAMSON worked closely with the relevant authorities and complied with all the necessary requirements on time. The planning application for the building where the electroplating unit will be installed is also part of the approval process. Planning permission for this building was granted back in August 2024. It is one of the two buildings already under construction at the new SAMSON site in Offenbach.

The new electroplating unit is part of the huge MainChange project being undertaken by SAMSON to relocate the company headquarters from Frankfurt to Offenbach. With a total investment of around 400 million euro, SAMSON is sending a strong message of commitment to the company’s future and to Germany as an industrial hub.
