Thermador Groupe bids on Sodeco Valves

Category: Economy & Enterprise
Autor: Vulkan Verlag

As part of the strategy to develop its international and industrial valve business, Thermador Groupe acquired the Belgian group Sodeco Valves based in Ternat, in the surroundings of Brussels.

With a reported turnover of €22.3m, the newly acquired company sells a wide range of valves and accessories for fluid handling.
In addition to its solid anchorage in Belgium and in The Netherlands, Sodeco Valves also has a direct commercial presence in France, Germany and Switzerland. It caters directly to industries, whereas Sferaco, Sectoriel and Thermador International (Thermador group’s subsidiaries) sell to wholesalers.
Thermador Groupe sees this acquisition as a way to speed up its international expansion thanks to three key factors:

  • a stronger foothold in a number of countries,
  • a crucial positioning to conquer currently inaccessible markets via industrial and international buyers needing very short lead-times,
  • and, an access to other manufacturers and other brands, helping to reinforce its image as a European specialist in industrial valves.

Sferaco, Sectoriel, Thermador International and Sodeco Valves now constitute a very appealing collective in the European industrial valves business. Dieter De Cock, who co-founded Sodeco Valves in 1989, will remain Managing Director and work closely with Lionel Monroe, CEO of Thermador International, to set up all the synergies induced by this rapprochement.
