Using intelligent valve construction to drive environmentally friendly hydrogen production. Under this heading, production at SAMSON PFEIFFER is running at full speed.

SAMSON PFEIFFER supplies companies in the field of electrolysis plants. The focus is on clean energy supply with green hydrogen on an industrial scale as an essential building block for climate protection. PFEIFFER develops and supplies the valves for this innovative future technology in close cooperation with its parent company SAMSON (Frankfurt).

Ball valves with PTFE and PFA housing

“Deliveries of automated shut-off valves leave our factory almost every week”, says Tim van Stiphout, head of the project department at PFEIFFER Chemie-Armaturenbau GmbH.

The mechanical engineer and his colleague Georg Menzel coordinate the ball valve project consisting of lined valves with PTFE and PFA bodies.

These are preferably parts from the 20b series. The tight-closing ball valve, which the company manufactures in different variants, is suitable for piping systems – also for aggressive media. The advantages of the product come into their own, especially in the case of high requirements in chemical plants, as necessitated by an energetic element such as hydrogen.

Key market Gulf region for hydrogen production

The Gulf region plays a key role in this context. SAMSON PFEIFFER also supplies its technology for hydrogen plants there. Green hydrogen is to be produced in the Persian Gulf on the basis of renewable energy sources.

“The process for climate-neutral production of hydrogen is already being practically applied today, so that the plants can be used on a large scale in the coming years”, says PFEIFFER engineer André Schnepper.

The topic of hydrogen is a focus of the current issue of our IAD magazine.
