Hyvolution 2026 kicks off

Representatives from politics, industry, and research from over 60 countries will come together at Hyvolution to discuss business opportunities, innovations, and concrete projects to accelerate the hydrogen industry.

The trade fair offers an extensive program of lectures, roundtables, masterclasses, and practical workshops covering the entire value chain from hydrogen producers to end users. The focus is on international partnerships, technological solutions for production and use, and the development of new hydrogen ecosystems. The event is aimed specifically at decision-makers from business and politics in order to promote transnational cooperation and advance concrete projects.

Highlights of the program include a Franco-German forum focusing on industrial cooperation between France and Germany in the hydrogen sector, as well as numerous presentations of new technologies and applications in the field of green and low-carbon hydrogen.

France’s H2 ramp-up stutters

In recent years, France has established the hydrogen sector as a strategic part of its energy transition. Although around 96% of current hydrogen consumption still comes from fossil sources, the focus is on renewable or low-carbon production methods in order to achieve climate targets by 2050.

France’s national hydrogen strategy envisages a significant expansion of electrolysis capacity in the coming years, with a target of several gigawatts by 2030 and beyond, and strengthens the entire value chain, including production, transport, and application.

However, actual implementation is progressing more slowly than planned: high costs, financing difficulties, and slow industrialization progress are currently slowing down the sector, even though large-scale projects for the production of renewable hydrogen are under construction. French policymakers have revised some of their ambitious targets downward—such as the electrolysis target for 2030—while at the same time focusing on strong domestic production.

Hyvolution strengthens the German-French hydrogen partnership

France’s hydrogen development plays an important role for Germany and Europe. Through cross-border projects, joint economic initiatives, and connections in research and infrastructure, the European hydrogen economy is growing together as a strategic energy system.

France’s industrial strength and Franco-German cooperation are key building blocks for establishing a competitive European hydrogen market, which should help reduce industrial emissions, lower energy imports, and achieve the EU’s climate targets. Hyvolution Paris serves as an important European platform for networking projects, discussing political frameworks, and accelerating the international market ramp-up of hydrogen technologies.
