The Rhine port steam power plant blocks one to three, built in the 1950s and 1960s, are equipped with classic actuators - geared motors with mounted electric motor and mechanical sensors for recording both valve end positions and torque. Reversing contactors and relay controls are located in the control cabinets. In the new block 8 - still under construction - actuators with integral controls and Profibus DP-V2 interfaces will be installed. They are proof for the latest trend of the decentralisation in process automation.
