The Czech valve manufacturer ARMATURY Group a.s. has developed a fully welded gate valve for natural gas applications. The first product of this type was recently delivered to the Polish energy company Gaz System.

For the Gustorzyn-Wronów-Dolna Odra project, the ARMATURY Group supplied a total of 60 gate valves of type S43.5, which are welded from sheet metal blanks. The scope of the order was in sizes DN 150 to DN 500.

Special requirements

A special type of gate valve is required for the medium natural gas. The basic requirement for this type of gate valve is a fully welded design, similar to ball valves.

In the past, the ARMATURY Group has offered fully welded gate valves in forged design which, due to their construction, place very high demands on machining capacity. A large part of the base material has to be removed, which does not contribute to ecology.

Gate valve made from moulded parts

Due to the ever increasing competition on the market and the resulting price pressure, the company has decided to develop a new type of fully welded gas valve. The result is the complete S43.3 series of fully welded gate valves made of moulded parts.

“The advantages of the new design are its modularity, lower weight, reduced machining, lighter and greener design while maintaining the same performance characteristics”, the company announces in a press release.

“These are the main benefits both in terms of end customer requirements and production economics.”
