Oliver Valves has manufactured a series of 90 trunnion-mounted, metal-seated D-type double-block-and-bleed (DBB) valves for a major unconventional gas project in the Middle East. The delivery forms part of an overall order for more than 700 valves.

The valves perform key shut-off functions within the large-scale gas infrastructure. The key requirements are high reliability, secure sealing and a robust design for demanding operating conditions.
The development project is one of the most significant gas programmes in the region.

The trunnion-mounted version with a metal seal is specifically designed for demanding applications where long-term performance is crucial. The contract underscores the international demand for British-developed valve solutions for critical energy projects.

Valves for the world, a reception at the palace

Oliver Valves is making headlines for more than just its technical achievements. Following the company’s win of the King’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation, Engineering Director Nick Howard was invited to a special reception at St James’s Palace. There, he had the opportunity to meet King Charles III in person.

Oliver Valves was recognised for its proprietary face-seal technology for subsea shut-off valves.

The innovation replaces a conventional spring-loaded lip seal with a one-piece PEEK polymer seal. This improves the reliability of valves in extreme offshore environments.

“Meeting the King at St James’s Palace was a great honour and a very proud moment – not just for me personally, but for the whole team involved in this development,” said Nick Howard.
