OHL Gutermuth is expanding its industrial valves business in China with a new manufacturing company in Tianjin and a sales subsidiary in Beijing. The production site will focus on a standardized series of triple-eccentric shut-off and control butterfly valves designed for clearly defined operating conditions. The official opening of the Tianjin facility is still pending.
Industrial valves for standardized applications
The new valve range is intended to complement OHL Gutermuth’s existing KX-Safeflex series rather than replace it. While the established range is designed for applications involving high pressures, extreme temperatures and dynamic loads, the new series targets applications where standardized specifications, availability and cost efficiency are more important than extensive technical reserves.
The approach allows operators and plant engineers to select a valve according to the actual operating conditions instead of using a customized high-performance design for applications that do not require it.
Triple-eccentric butterfly valves up to DN 600
The new series covers nominal diameters from DN 50 to DN 600 and pressure ratings from Class 150 to Class 600. The valves are designed for operating temperatures of up to 400 °C and will be available in carbon steel and stainless steel.
Depending on the model, leak-tightness classes V and VI are available. In addition to triple-eccentric butterfly valves, OHL Gutermuth also plans to manufacture other valves and assemblies at the Tianjin facility.
Manufacturing and testing in Tianjin
The Chinese production site covers several stages of the manufacturing process, including machining, assembly, quality control, pressure testing and leak testing. Storage and shipping are also handled at the facility.
By locating these processes in Tianjin, the company aims to increase production capacity and shorten delivery routes for customers in its Asian target markets. The Beijing subsidiary will provide local sales support and take on additional service tasks.
Initial focus on China and Asia
OHL Gutermuth will initially focus the new production activities on China and other Asian markets. According to the company, the first orders for the standardized valve series have already been received.
The expansion adds a second product approach to the company’s portfolio: application-specific high-performance valves remain available for demanding operating conditions, while the new series addresses applications with more standardized technical requirements.
