Guarniflon is expanding its manufacturing capacity for PTFE sealing solutions with new moulding and sintering technology for large-diameter components. The company plans to manufacture PTFE tubes with diameters of up to three metres, providing semi-finished components for special sealing solutions used in demanding industrial applications.
The new production technology is designed for moulding and sintering large-diameter PTFE tubes. According to Guarniflon, the equipment is scheduled to become operational at the end of 2026 or beginning of 2027.
The additional manufacturing capacity will allow the company to produce large PTFE components specifically intended for special sealing applications. For valve manufacturers, plant engineers and sealing specialists, the larger dimensions can be relevant wherever conventional semi-finished PTFE products do not meet the required component sizes.
Application in hydrogen infrastructure
Guarniflon identifies hydrogen infrastructure and distribution as strategic application areas for the new production capability. Sealing materials used in these systems must meet demanding requirements regarding chemical resistance, permeability, dimensional stability and long-term performance under operating conditions.
PTFE is therefore used in sealing technology where resistance to aggressive media and low permeability are important design criteria. The precise suitability of a material or sealing design depends on the respective pressure, temperature, medium and operating conditions.
Production technology to be installed in India
The new moulding and sintering equipment will be installed at Guarniflon India Pvt. Ltd. The investment expands the Indian site’s role as a manufacturing location within the Guarniflon Group and supports production for both the domestic and international markets.
The project extends Guarniflon’s existing manufacturing capabilities for PTFE products with significantly larger component dimensions. For industrial sealing applications, the investment primarily increases the range of available sizes for subsequent machining and the production of application-specific sealing components.
Relevance for industrial valves and sealing technology
Large-format PTFE semi-finished products can be relevant for manufacturers of industrial valves, equipment and sealing systems when unusually large geometries or application-specific sealing elements are required. The planned production technology therefore addresses not only hydrogen applications but also other industrial projects with demanding sealing requirements.
With the new production equipment in India, Guarniflon is extending its PTFE manufacturing capabilities to components with diameters of up to three metres. The planned start of operation around the turn of 2026/2027 will broaden the available component sizes for special industrial sealing solutions, including applications in hydrogen infrastructure.
